CHARLESTON, W.VA – The University of Charleston will square off with Urbana University in Wednesday's first round of the MEC Women's Basketball Tournament.  The Blue Knights advanced to the first-round game following a 10-12 conference record for the 2018 season. UC and Urbana are no strangers as the two squared off twice in the regular season, with Urbana winning the first time 73-57, but falling the second time to the Golden Eagles 60-52. Charleston will face Urbana for the third time this year, advancing to the second game of the tournament on Thursday if won.

MEC Honorable Mention player Octavia Loll leads the Golden Eagles in points, assists, steals, and games played. The sophomore point guard is playing in her second straight MEC Tournament, making it to the semi-final, but losing to Fairmont State 57-71.

Abby Watson tallied 162 rebounds on the season. While teammate, Anna Hayton leads in blocked shots with 22 blocks in 19 games played.

The Golden Eagles are heading to their fourth straight tournament in four years, making it to the MEC Championship in 2013-2014, and advancing to the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
