CHARLESTON, WV – The University of Charleston women's basketball team (9-13, 6-11 MEC) fell to the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals (11-12, 9-8 MEC) after a hard fought battle in the Alma Grace McDonough Center in Wheeling, West Virginia.

How it Happened
The Cardinals took the lead early in the game leading the Golden Eagles 19-10 at the end of the first quarter. Wheeling made 50% of their shots from the three point line, whereas Charleston made 0%. The Cardinals had three steals against the Golden Eagles in the first quarter while they gave up no turnovers.
Heading into the second quarter, Charleston was down nine points, but could not make up the deficit before the half. Wheeling scored double the points of the Golden Eagles in the second quarter making 30.8% of field goals, nearly double the percent of Charleston. Charleston led in blocks this quarter, having one over the Cardinals.
Not much changed for Charleston in the third quarter of the game, being led by almost double figures. However, things looked up for UC in the last quarter of the game outscoring the Cardinals by eight points. The Golden Eagles also led in blocks and rebounds this quarter, but could not pick up enough speed to surpass Wheeling to bring a win home, falling 64-49.
