ORLANDO, Fla. – The Golden Eagle's women's tennis team won their first match of spring break play, wiping the court clean with a win over the University of Sioux Falls 9-0 on Wednesday night.
The successful day for Charleston started early, as all three doubles matches were wins for UC with No.1, 2, and 3 doubles spots beating out their opponents. No.1 doubled duo of Kristine Gegeshidze and Katie Swann took home an 8-5 win, followed by a 8-3 win by No. 2 doubles pair Elise Edwards and Silvana Slusarciuc. Alize Uyttenhove and Bridget Dillon followed suit at No3 doubles, winning 8-5.
Singles play was the same story for the Golden Eagles, as they won all six matches. No. 1 singles player Kristine Gegeshidze won 0-6, 6-4, 10-7, followed by No. 2 Katie Swann who defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-2. No. 3 singles star Elise Edwards chalked up a 6-0, 6-0 win, with No. 4 Silvana Slusarciuc winning 6—2, 6-2. Heading in to the last two matches of the day, No. 4 and 5 singles players Alize Uyttenhove and Bridget Dillon continued the streak for UC, winning 6-2, 6-2, and 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
