CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston fell to IUP in a close match on Sunday afternoon in the NCAA Tournament 5-2, after a hard fought battle.
The Golden Eagles trailed the Hawks 2-1 after doubles play, with a 9-7 win from UC's No. 2 doubles tandem Kristine Gegeshidze and Silvana Slusarciuc. Charleston carried their enthusiasm into singles play with close matches, with a win from Kristine Gegeshidze at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-1. IUP snatched three more wins to end the match, however UC had two close matches that were unfinished at No. 3 singles and No. 5 singles. The Golden Eagles fell to the Hawks to end their fantastic 18-7 season.
