CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles improved to 12-1 on the season after a stellar defensive performance against the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals on Thursday night. After holding the Cardinals to just 14 percent from the field, the Golden Eagles cruised to a 68-26 victory.

How it Happened
In the first quarter the Golden Eagles jumped to an early 19-4 lead. The Golden Eagles shot a clean 54 percent from the field while holding their opponents to a mere 11. The Golden Eagles continued to build their lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 16-8. Heading into the break Charleston was led by Raiyah Farrington and Anna Hayton, each with eight points. After shooting less than 20 percent in the first half, the Cardinals went into the break down 23 points to the Golden Eagles.
 
The Golden Eagles once again outscored Wheeling Jesuit 16-8. Once again, the Cardinals went 5-30 from the field, while Charleston went 10-21 to extend their lead to 51-20 heading into the final period. Charleston extended their lead through the fourth quarter. Charleston remains atop the Mountain East Conference Standings with their 42-point victory over Wheeling Jesuit.
