CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Golden Eagle women's tennis team served up a 7-0 sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan College at Schoenbaum Courts on Sundary afternoon.
With the win UC moved to 2-0 in Mountain East Conference play and grabbed their 10th win of the 2018-10 season to improve to 10-2 overall.
Charleston picked up the double point by sweeping all three doubles courts to jump out to a 1-0 lead over Wesleyan before heading to singles.  Kristine Gegeshidze put UC up 2-0 after a straight set win at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1.  Regina Lopez-Saucedo was next to finish for the Golden Eagles at No. 5 singles, dispatching her Bobcat opponent, Rebecca Osborne, 6-0, 6-2.  Mathilde Simon put the finishing touches on the victory at No. 6 singles with the match clinching point after a 6-0, 6-3 defeat of Maddie Chen from Wesleyan.
The Golden Eagles went on to win the final three courts and secure their second 7-0 Mountain East win of the season.
