HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Concord jumped ahead early scoring on a passed ball in the top of the first inning.
Both teams went scoreless until the top of the fifth when Concord batted in a pair of runs to take the 3-0 lead over the Golden Eagles.
The seventh inning was a thriller from UC, with three errors allowing UC to score bringing the score to 3-1 with no outs. Destinee Miles singled straight to the pitcher, beating out the play to get on first, and allowing Carly Turner to score for UC. Down by one with one out, Karli Pinkerton reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Alex Thomas to score the tying run.
With the game deadlocked at 3-3, two outs, Kendall Marshall hit a walk off double that sent Destinee Miles home to give Charleston the 4-3 victory.
Carly Turner picked up her ninth win of the year. The freshman pitched a complete game retiring 21 of 33 batters.
GAME 2:
After a scoreless first two innings, Kendall Marshall singled to left field in the bottom of the third sending the Miles home for the 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth with Pinkerton on second, Haleigh Christopher hit the 32
nd career home run to take the 3-0 lead heading into the seventh.
Concord gave the Golden Eagles quite the scare, scoring two runs in the top of the seventh, but it would not be enough to down the Golden Eagles who came away with the 3-2 victory.
