WHEELING, W.VA. – The Golden Eagles are going to the MEC Championship for the first time since 2014. After coming back from a 9-0 deficit to start the game the Golden Eagles (25-5) took the 68-59 victory over the Concord Mountain Lions (23-7) all the way to Championship Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior guard,
Raziyah Farrington led the Golden Eagles with 33 points, and brought down 11 boards while sophomore guard
Brooklyn Pannell logged her tallied 16 points, going a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point land. Senior guard
Aloneet Durden was third in scoring for the Golden Eagles with eight points, she also notched two steals and two rebounds.
CU was led by Andreanna Pool with 19 points. Madison May and Riley Fitzwater each contributed 12 points.
After going down 9-0 to start the game, Farrington and Durden led the Golden Eagles for six straight points for giving UC the 12-9 lead. Farrington gave UC their first lead on the game with a pull up jumper in the pain. The Mountain Lions did not score for the remainder of the first period as Charleston kept on their 17-0 run to end the quarter leading 17-9.
After the first quarter the Golden Eagles continued to spread the gap between themselves and the Mountain Lions, when after not scoring for 10 minutes, a three-pointer by Keely Lundy broke the 25-0 steak by the Golden Eagles. The Mountain Lions fought to stay in the game, bringing the score within seven just before the break.
Farrington hit her hot streak in the first half, scoring 20 of her 30 points before the break.
Charleston continued to score at will to lead 50-33 by the 4:08 mark. Concord struggled to score as UC held Madison May to 4-for-11 from the field. Charleston would finish the quarter with a 54-35 lead.
Concord clawed their way back into the game, cutting the UC lead to seven points, but unfortunately, they would do so with only 52 seconds to play. Charleston went on to win 68-59 and advance to the MEC title game.
