WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. -- The Golden Eagles suffered their first Mountain East Conference loss on Saturday afternoon in a 4-3 upset by West Liberty University at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.

Playing without Silvana Slusarciuc, coach Shari Reed was forced to adjust the Charleston lineup and unfortunately for the Golden Eagles they weren't able to overcome the senior's absence.  UC dropped the doubles point after the Toppers took two of the three doubles courts.  Charleston and West Liberty split the six singles matches, resulting in UC's first MEC defeat of the season.  The loss drops Charleston to 15-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

Charleston looks to get back on track Sunday, hosting Shaw University and Concord University at the Charleston Tennis Club.  UC will be celebrating Senior Day before Sunday's 10:00 a.m. start with the Bears.  The four seniors being recognized are Caisie Adcock, Elise Edwards, Kristine Gegeshidze, and Silvana Slusarciuc.
