INDIANAPOLIS – The Golden Eagle women's tennis team is the No. 2 seed in the Atlantic Region as the NCAA announced its field of 48 teams for the Division II Championships Tuesday night.
It's the first time the Charleston women's tennis has hosted the NCAA Regional since joining the Mountain East Conference in 2013.

The Golden Eagles earned an at-large bid as the runner-up of the Mountain East Conference (MEC). Charleston is a regular in NCAA DII Atlantic Region events
The NCAA Division II Championships are made up of 48 teams, including 21 automatic qualifiers and 27 at-large selections. The top two teams in each of Division II's eight regions will serve as hosts, with the winners of each site advancing to Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
As the No. 2 seed, UC will host the bottom half of the Atlantic Region Championships next week. Making the trip to Charleston will be No. 7 seed Shaw, No. 6 seed West Chester and No. 3 seed Salem (W.Va.). Charleston and Shaw will square off on Monday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Schoenbaum Tennis Courts followed by Salem versus West Chester scheduled 3:30 p.m.
The winner's form Monday's matches will face one another on Tuesday, May 14 at 2:00 p.m. with a trip to the NCAA DII Women's Tennis Championship at stake.
West Virginia State will serve as the other Atlantic Region host as the No. 1 seed and will welcome No. 4 seed Mercyhurst and No. 5 seed Slippery Rock. The winner will take on the Yellow Jackets. Both halves of the NCAA DII Atlantic Region will be played at the Schoenbaum Tennis Courts.
