URBANA, Ohio. – The UC Golden Eagles Football team dropped their first game of the season, falling to Urbana 28-20. Charleston, who led 20-14 going into halftime, was held scoreless in the second by the Urbana defense.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles offense once again surged in the first half, leading as big as 20-7 with just over 14 minutes remaining in the 2
nd quarter. After
Tremaine Ross caught his first of two touchdowns from UC Quarterback
Brant Grisel to put the Golden Eagles on the board, Urbana Running Back W.R. Sanders Jr. rushed for his first of four touchdowns to even the score at 7-7. Grisel would then connect with Ross again, this time for 29 yards to give UC a 13-7 lead.
Just moments into the 2
nd quarter, Grisel found his biggest target in
Mike Strachan for the 28-yard score to cap off a three play, 51-yard drive. For the second straight week, Strachan set a career-high in receptions as he notched thirteen against the Knights. The ball would spend the majority of the 2
nd quarter in the UC defensive end as Urbana scored with just 26 seconds remaining after Sanders Jr. rushed for his second touchdown of the game, cutting the Golden Eagle lead to six.
Sanders would lead the Urbana offense in the second half, rushing for a five-yard score just five minute into the half to cap off a nine play, 67-yard drive for the Knights to take a 21-20 lead.
With just two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Sanders would take a 68-yard run all the way for his fourth touchdown of the game to cap the Urbana scoring and put the Knights ahead 28-20.
Charleston will return home next Saturday, September 21
st to host the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan with kickoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
