The Golden Eagles Men's Soccer team moved to 4-0 in MEC play after defeating the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan 3-0 on Sunday evening at the Welch Athletic Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Charleston was able to get on the board early after Sophomore Midfielder Christos Charalambous was fouled in the penalty box, allowing UC to execute on an early penalty kick. After roughly thirty minutes of play passed, the Golden Eagles received another penalty kick after Wesleyan was tabbed with a handball in the box with 4:34 remaining in the half. Charalombous once again was chosen to take the PK and executed to put UC ahead 2-0. The Golden Eagles put just two shots on net in the half, both penalty kicks which were executed.
 
Second half play was defensive for the first 15 minutes before Ploutarchos Alonefti scored with 31:04 remaining in the game on an assist by Ettore Ballestracci to put the Golden Eagles on top 3-0. Charleston held the Bobcats to just two shots, with just one finding its way on net for Freshman Goalkeeper Andri Gretarsson. The Keeper was able to record his third solo shutout of the season as Charleston won its 500^th match as a program since play began roughly fifty years ago.
 
The Golden Eagles will hit the road on Wednesday to face Urbana with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. before returning home on October 3 to square off against Frostburg State.
