Golden Eagles Set for Road Game at Valparaiso

CHARLESTON, W. Va. –Pat Kirkland's Golden Eagles (2-1) are hitting the road to take on Division I FCS opponent, Valparaiso University on Saturday. The Golden Eagles are coming of a 34-39 victory over the WVWC Bobcats. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. Eastern time.

FOR STARTERS
• The Golden Eagles are looking to improve to 3-1 are coming off a 34-29 victory over the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats.
• This will be the first meeting between the two programs, and Charleston's longest road trip of the season.
• The Golden Eagles are led offensively by senior quarterback, Brant Grisel who has thrown 1,045 yards on the season, with nine touchdowns. Right alongside Grisel is receiver, Mike Strachan who has tallied nearly 500 yards on the season with five touchdowns.
Defensively, the Charleston is led by linebacker, Kal-El Williams with 24 tackles, and front-man Kenny Randall who has tallied four TFLs, and three sacks for a combined 37 yards.
 
THE OPPOSITION: NCAA Division I FCA opponent, Valparaiso will look to bounce back from a 38-7 setback last week at Truman State, the alma mater of legendary Valpo basketball coach Gene Bartow. The Bulldogs, a team receiving votes in the NCAA Division-II national poll, limited Valpo to two first downs in the opening half and forced punts on Valpo's first seven possessions. The team's lone score of the game came on a 16-yard pitch-and-catch from Jimmy Seewald to Trey Stablein with 6:51 to go in the fourth quarter. Four players took snaps at quarterback for Valpo in the game – Chris Duncan, Joe Mullen, Jimmy Seewald (season debut) and Ben Nimz (collegiate debut).
