Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles Women's Basketball team (12-2, 7-1 MEC), increased their win streak to 9 games on Saturday with a 65-53 win over the Senators of Davis & Elkins College. Anna Hayton, who finished the game with 18 points, seven rebounds, and an assist.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles trailed early, as the Senators held a 7-2 advantage over UC at the 4:30 mark in the first quarter. At the end of the frame, the Golden Eagles trailed 13-6 while shooting just 1-of-14 from the field, converting on 4-of-8 from the charity stripe, and was outrebounded 16-6.
Charleston cut into the Senator lead, bringing the score to 15-11 with 7:42 remaining in the quarter and tied the game at 19-19 with just over five minutes remaining in the half. Davis & Elkins fought back, putting together a 10-3 run of their own over the next four minutes before Hayton would be charged with a technical foul in the final minute of the half following a turnover with the Senators leading 29-22. Megan Haines drew a critical foul in the final seconds of play on a made layup and was able to convert the and one to cut the Senator lead to four headed into the break, trailing 29-25.
Charleston cut the Davis & Elkins lead to three headed into the final frame after outscoring the opposition 13-12 in the third.
The fourth quarter was all in favor of the Golden Eagles, who would outscore D&E 27-12. Hayton was able to lead the way with 14 points in the frame and Charleston forced five turnovers and outscored the Senators 23-8 during the contest in points off turnovers.
