No. 22 Golden Eagles Come Away from PFX Spring Game with 14-2 Record After Final Day Split

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Golden Eagles are 6-2 after their final day of competition at the PFX Spring Games. Charleston picked up a win against St. Cloud, 7-4, but fell to Gannon 1-6 in game two of the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
UC Softball stole the lead late in the game in a 7-4 victory over St. Cloud State University on Friday.  The game was tied at four with UC Softball batting in the top of the seventh when Kendall Marshall doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs.
 
UC Softball earned the victory despite allowing St. Cloud State University to score three runs in the sixth inning.  St. Cloud State University scored its runs on a single by #14.
 
UC Softball got things started in the second inning when Ann-Judie Martin singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
 
Dani Bauer earned the victory on the rubber for UC Softball. She lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out nine and walking zero.
 
#15 took the loss for St. Cloud State University. She surrendered four runs on five hits over one inning.
 
 #24 started the game for St. Cloud State University. She lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one
 
UC Softball totaled 14 hits.  Martin, Marshall, Brittany Whiteside, Karli Pinkerton, and Emma Groe each managed multiple hits for UC Softball.  Martin led UC Softball with three hits in four at bats.
 
St. Cloud State University racked up nine hits in the game.  #18, #14, and #10 each collected multiple hits for St. Cloud State University.  #18 went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead St. Cloud State University in hits.  St. Cloud State University didn't commit a single error in the field. #26 had the most chances in the field with seven.
 
GAME 2:
UC Softball watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 6-1 loss to Gannon University on Friday.  Gannon University took the lead on a single in the first inning.
 
Gannon University got on the board in the first inning when #00 singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
 
#16 earned the win for Gannon University. She lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out four.
 
Carlee Lucas took the loss for UC Softball. She went three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out three.
 
UC Softball smacked one home run on the day. Emma Groe had a homer in the sixth inning.
 
UC Softball totaled six hits.  Brittany Whiteside and Karli Pinkerton each had multiple hits for UC Softball.  Pinkerton and Whiteside each managed two hits to lead UC Softball.
 
Gannon University tallied seven hits on the day.  #00 and #27 each racked up multiple hits for Gannon University.  Gannon University didn't commit a single error in the field. #9 had  seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
