Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles Women's Basketball team (3-0, 3-0 MEC) topped the Alderson Broaddus Battlers in Wednesday night action, taking the 76-63 victory, led by senior guard, Brooklyn Pannell with 28 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Three minutes into the contest the score was set at 4-all, but the Battlers answered a Golden Eagle turnover with a three ball from Kristy Galea to take the 7-4 lead. Alderson Broaddus went on a 7-2 lead with score of 9-4 before the Golden Eagles answered bringing the score within three points. With just over two minutes to play in the quarter Abby Lee knocked down a pair from the stripe to bring the Golden Eagles within a point of the visitors. On their next possession a three-point play from Brooklyn Pannell tied the game up at 11-11. On the next possession a three from Madeline Moyer gave the Battlers the 14-11 lead with less than a minute to play. Alderson Broaddus continued to attack in the final minutes to hold the 16-13 lead to close the quarter.
Coming out of the break UC went on a 5-0 run to post a 18-16 lead less than a minute into the second quarter. Alderson Broaddus knocked down their first bucket of the second quarter with just over six minutes to play bringing them within two points of the home team. Charleston answered keeping the 5-point lead, but Yolanda Florido drove the lane on the next possession to close the gap for the Battlers. AB scored on the next possession to bring the score to 23-22 in favor of Charleston. AB took the 25-23 lead with a three from Florido with just under five minutes to play in the half. On the next possession, Brooklyn Pannell drove to the basket to tie the game up 25-all. Charleston began to pull away in the final minutes of the quarter with back-to-back buckets from Russell and Abby. The Golden Eagles clung to the lead, finishing with a bucket from Brooklyn Pannell for the 36-31 lead to enter the break.
Charleston opened up the scoring in the second half with a bucket from senior, Anastasiia Zakharova. The Golden Eagles 5-0 run to start the half gave them a 10-point advantage just under two minutes in. The Battlers answered on their next possession bringing the score to 41-33. Brooklyn Pannell knocked down a three with just over six minutes to play to put Charleston up 44-35. At the under-5 media the Golden Eagles boasted a 51-35 lead over the visitors. Charleston's offense continued to surge, closing the third quarter with the 14-point lead over the Battlers.
Pannell scored on back-to-back Golden Eagle possessions to start the fourth quarter giving Charleston the 61-46 lead. Charleston continued on the attack through the final period to take the 79-61 victory.
