Along side his athletes, Head Coach, Nick Bias took his fourth straight and fifth overall Coach of the Year award.
When asked about his teams fourth straight title, Bias was extremely pleased with his team's performance. "I'm very pleased with the men today as we were able to win our 4th straight MEC Championship! They are executed our race plan perfectly and ran as a pack which is our main strength as a team. We had a 30 second split with our 1-5 runners which is awesome. They simply know how to run in championship races and win! "
On the women's side, Charleston took home their second straight MEC title with a score of 37, taking first with a margin of 33 points over Davis & Elkins. The Golden Eagles crossed the finish line taking spots, 3,4,6,10,15, and 20. Every runner earning all conference honors in the effort. Elise Leveel, Mercy Jepleting, Lily Dowdell, and Madison Wooline all with first-team honors, while Lena Kaster, Lia Markert, and Flora Tissier rounded out the honors with second-team. Elise Leveel also took first Freshman of the Year honors to round out the awards for the Golden Eagles.
Bias was pleased with the women's performance, taking their second straight title, "I'm very pleased with my women's team. We knew if we could put 4 runners in the top 10- that we would be able to win and that's exactly what we accomplished. This is the 2nd straight MEC Championship for my women and I'm so happy for them. This course requires you to be tough and they ran very tough today."
Bias once again took Coach of the Year honors leading the Golden Eagles.
Both Charleston squads look to head to NCAA Atlantic regionals.
