Women's Soccer Extends Win Steak to Five

Charleston, W.Va- The Golden Eagles Women's Soccer team headed into their Sunday match on the heels of a four game winning streak with hopes of making it five in a row.
The Basics
Location: Elliot Field - Welch Athletic Complex
Score: UC 0 WVWC 0
Records: Charleston (10-4-0, 9-3-0 MEC) Wesleyan (6-6-2, 6-5-1 MEC)

Charleston had plenty of early scoring opportunities, twice having great looks at goal from senior Keira Hill and freshman Kassandra Demps.

With 33:16 left in the first half the Golden Eagles Keira Hill received a pass just inside the 18-yard box. Hill made a few moves past two defenders and sent a ball past the Wesleyan goalkeeper Ally Moore  to open the scoring for UC.

Just a few minutes later she would get a ball from Madison Hansen along the left wing. Hill put it on her right foot and fired a shot into the top right corner to make the score 2-0 Charleston.

With time winding down in the first half the Golden Eagles would add another off the foot of Sydney Cavender. The freshman squeezed past a defender and slotted the shot into the bottom left corner to make the score 3-0 Charleston over the Bobcats.

Just three minutes into the second half, veteran defender Madison Hansen was sent off after receiving a red card due to denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. The Golden Eagles would have to play a player down for the rest of the second half. Natalia Pirieu for the Bobcats was also sent off with eight minutes left in the second half after receiving her second yellow of the afternoon.

After the exciting first half, the second half would see no scoring by either side. For the Golden Eagles, the win would mark their fifth straight victory in conference play and would vault them up second place in the south division.

Kaylee Hensley collected her third straight clean sheet and her eighth of the year.
