Women's Soccer Season Comes to a Close During NCAA Tournament Run

Box Score Kutztown, PA.- The Golden Eagles Women's Soccer team (No. 4) were knocked out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by No. 6 West Chester, on Friday afternoon at Kutztown University.

The Basics
Location: Keystone Field
Score: UC 0 WC 2
Records: Charleston 15-6, West Chester 12-4-2

How it Happened
After playing an outstanding regular season with a record of 15-5-0, The Golden Eagles earned an NCAA tournament berth for the first time since 2016.

The Golden Eagles and the Golden Rams battled hard for the first half, both teams with possessions but neither team able to score. Coach Diuguid's team was in control quiet a lot but just simply could not find the back of the net.

The second half was scoreless until the 65th minute when Julia Raybold scored a goal off of a corner kick and put the Golden Rams on top 1-0. Moments later, Erin Greiner scored another West Chester goal putting the game out of reach for the Golden Eagles.

Coach Todd Diuguid shifted the formation of the team in hopes of creating opportunities for the Golden Eagles, but West Chester demonstrated strong determination in the second half, capitalizing on two of their seven attempts at the goal.

Despite the premature ending, Charleston had an outstanding season competed by the exceptional 2021 Golden Eagle squad.
