CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- The University of Charleston Women's Tennis team picked up their first win of 2021 season against Bluefield State College on Sunday. The Golden Eagles went into the match after a tough loss to University of the Cumberlands the night before. On Sunday, Charleston took the doubles point after convincing wins at the #1 and #3 doubles spots. Swann/Drouin won at #1 6-1 while Balancho/Lif won 6-3 at #3 position. Balakrishnan/Singh fell just short at #2 doubles 7-6 (5)
Charleston went into the singles up 1-0 for the second time this weekend. This time, the Golden Eagles went on to dominate the singles courts getting wins at #1, #3, #4, #5, #6 singles spots. Freshman Balancho, and Lif, got their first singles victories for UC. Balancho took the #4 spot 6-1, 6-3. Lif took the #5 spot 6-3, 6-3. Singh put in a convincing win to bounce back from a tough loss the night before at #1 spot winning 6-0, 6-1.
Next up for UC is Grand Valley State on March 7th at home.
