CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles Women's Basketball team was handed their first loss of the season this afternoon from the Mountain Lions of Concord University. Despite a hard-fought contest, UC could not hold on to the victory as they fell to Concord 59-54.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first quarter, the Mountain Lions outscored the Golden Eagles 11-17. UC was 4-of-20 from the floor and 1-of-4 on three-pointers. Concord shot the ball 7-of-12 from the field and 1-of-3 from beyond the arc and won the rebound battle 10-5 in the opening frame. Besides two ties, the Mountain Lions lead Charleston the entire first quarter.
In the second, the Golden Eagles outscored Concord 15-11, and brought the game to within two points heading into the half. UC outhustled Concord in the offensive rebounding category to create extra possessions for themselves. Concord was in the driver seat as they led the entire quarter with the score was 26-28 going into the half.
Charleston came back out after halftime and went 6-of-18 from the field and 1-of-6 on three-point attempts. Concord was 6-of-15 from the field and 1-of-3 on three-pointers. Both teams scored 16 in the third quarter and the Golden Eagles' deficit remained two points with the score 42-44 going into the 4
th quarter.
Charleston could not get much going in the ladder portion of the game as they could only manage to make five of twenty-one shorts from field in the 4
th. The Mountain Lions went just 5-of-11 in the period but were able to make the most of the shots that they took. They also were able to rally 23 points from the bench to just five for Charleston. With the loss, the longest winning streak to begin a season (13-0) comes to an end for the Golden Eagles.
