FROSTBURG, Md. – Head Coach Daniel Smee earned his first victory at the helm of the Golden Eagles men's soccer program with an 8-0 victory over the Frostburg State Bobcats. Charleston was led by Christos Charalambous and Adam Burchell who each tallied two goals in the win. Eduardo Iranzo notched a goal and two assists for the Golden Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
It was the Bobcats who were on the attack first, getting the first shot off in the contest, allowing Marc Torrado to earn his first save in a Golden Eagle uniform. The pair of Christos Charalambous and Adam Burchell contributed 4 goals for the Golden Eagles in the 8-0 outing.
Eduardo Iranzo scored a goal and tallied two assists for Charleston while three other Golden Eagles tallied goals in the defending National Champions first win of the season. The Cyrpus native converted a penalty in the 18th minute for the Golden Eagles first goal in 434 days after Alex Townley was fouled in the box. Four minutes later, Sam Bethell found Gabriel Rodriguez to bring the score to 2-0.
Charleston notched three more goals in the half, as Charalambous again converted from the PK spot. Iranzo notched assist number two, finding Junior midfielder Adam Burchell in the 39th minute.
Iranzo found the net himself 11 minutes into the second half, giving Charleston the 6-0 lead over the Bobcats. Charleston sealed their victory with a goal from Alex Townley. Burchell made the score 8-0 sending the ball to the upper right corner with 42 seconds to play in the contest.
Charleston out shot the Bobcats 16-2 in the win and held a 10-0 advantage on corner kicks.
Freshman Goalkeeper, Marc Torrado tallied his first clean sheet as a Golden Eagle with two saves in the win.
UP NEXT
Charleston will be back in action on Sunday with their home opener against the Hilltoppers of West Liberty. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. at the Welch Athletic Complex.
