CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- The University of Charleston Women's Tennis team defeated the Lakers from Mercyhurst University on Saturday afternoon at Schoenbaum Courts, winning the match 6-1. The women jumped out to a quick start by winning the doubles point over Mercyhurst winning 1^st and 2^nd doubles. At #1 doubles Lif/Singh took control early on to win 6-1. Drouin/Swann had a great start to lead 5-1 before being dragged back to 5-5. They regained their composure to win 7-5 and clinch the doubles point for the Eagles. 
  
In singles, the team quickly secured the match with wins by Singh (6-1, 6-0), Drouin (6-2, 6-0) and Balancho (6-3, 6-1) at first, third and fourth singles respectively. With the win, Prinkle Singh extends her Division II win-streak to three matches.  Second singles players Katie Swan battled back for a three-set win after losing the first set.  Haarini Balakrishnan also won in a third set after winning the first and dropping the second set. AlexiAnn Drouin got back to winning ways winning comfortably at third singles. 
  
Singh, Swan and Drouin all notched wins in both singles and doubles.   
  
Head Coach Alec Foote said, "Despite not playing our best tennis, I was proud of the ladies for finding a way to win."
