COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles women's basketball team advances to the next round of the NCAA DII Atlantic Region Tournament. The Golden Eagles were once again led by senior guard Brooklyn Pannell with 27 points in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Cavaliers jumped to an early 10-point lead before Brooklyn Pannell got the ball rolling for the Golden Eagles knocking down a three to bring the score to 10-3. Charleston scored seven unanswered points to climb back into the game with 4:50 to play in the quarter.
Charleston found themselves down 19-12 at the end of the first frame, led by Pannell with three points. The Cavaliers scored seven unanswered points to open the second quarter to jump to a 26-12 lead over the Golden Eagles. Dakota Reeves knocked down a three to bring the Golden Eagles within 11 of the Cavaliers.
Charleston clawed their way back into the contest, down just two points with a minute to play. The Cavaliers found two more buckets in the final minute to head into the break with a six-point lead over the Golden Eagles.
The Cavaliers opened the scoring in the second half with a three, just over a minute into the third quarter. Charleston once again climbed back into the contest, with a score of 46-42 and just under four minutes to play in the third. The Golden Eagles stayed persistent taking the 54-52 lead on a last second shot in the third quarter.
Once the Golden Eagles claimed their lead, they never looked back nearly building a double-digit lead in the final frame of the contest. Charleston came away with the victory, advancing to the finals of the NCAA DII Atlantic Region Tournament.
