BLUEFIELD, W. Va. -- The University of Charleston Women's Tennis team defeated Bluefield State College on Friday afternoon as visitors, winning the match 6-1. The team rotated the starting lineup for today's match, but it was not an obstacle as the Golden Eagles jumped out to a quick start to win the double point over Bluefield State winning 1
st, 2
nd and 3
rd doubles.
#1 doubles Lif/Singh, #2 doubles Swann/Drouin and #3 doubles Williams/Balakrishnan took control of their matches winning 6-3, 6-1 and 6-1.
In singles, the team secured the match with wins by Singh (6-2,6-2), Drouin (6-1,6-1), Balakrishnan (6-2,6-4), Lif (6-2,6-4), Montero (5-7,6-4,10-7) and just one lost by Balancho (6-7, 3-6). It was a happy and sunny day for the UC girls who enjoyed the triumph.
