Women's Tennis Wins Thriller Over IUP on Saturday

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Women's Tennis team, ranked #1 in the Atlantic Region, defeated Indiana University of Pennsylvania ranked #2 in the Atlantic Region on Saturday with the Eagles coming home with 4-3 victory.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Golden Eagles got off to a slow start in doubles losing all three courts against IUP. Newly ranked #1 doubles Lif/Singh lost 6-4 while the #2 doubles pairing of Swann/Drouin lost 6-3. IUP wrapped up doubles with a win at #3, as Williams/Balakrishnan lost 6-3. 

Charleston came out fighting in singles after the loss in doubles. The Golden Eagles got two quick wins at singles winning at #1 Singh (6-2, 6-1), and #6 Lif (6-2, 6-1).
 
IUP fought back winning at #2 singles (6-3, 6-2). With the match tied at 2-2, the three remaining matches all went to the third set in a nail-biting encounter.
 
UC came out on top winning two out of the three, three set matches. With Balancho winning at #4 singles (6-2, 2-6, 6-4) and Balakrishnan clinching the match (6-7 (4), 6-2, 6-3) at #5, the match was decided. AlexiAnn Drouin lost a close match at #3 (3-6, 6-0, 6-4)
