Golden Eagles Shutout Senators in Home Opener

Box Score Charleston, W. Va.  – The University of Charleston Golden Eagles picked up their first win of the 2021 season at Elliot Field on Wednesday night. The Golden Eagles played their first MEC matchup of the year against the Davis and Elkins Senators winning by a score of 2-0

The Eagles would open MEC play 1-0 on Wednesday evening after holding visiting Davis and Elkins scoreless. The Golden Eagle offense was on the prowl after being held to only 1 goal in their first two contests of the year. The score would open with a first half goal by freshman Audrey Miller after she was given a perfect ball by Jessica Seaton.

The second goal in the first half would come in with 18 minutes left off the foot of sophomore Lotte Bovy. The Holland native lined up a free kick from miles away and slotted it home bar down to give the Golden Eagles a 2-0 advantage. The goals by Miller and Bovy were the first of their careers as the young players for the Golden Eagles look to bring promise in the remainder of the season.

The Golden Eagles would dominate on defense as well with UC defenders Madison Hansen and Brooke Lucas constantly fending off Senator attacks.
Kaylee Hensley recorded her second straight clean sheet, holding the Senators scoreless for 90 minutes.
