CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- The University of Charleston Men's Cross-Country team competed in the UC Invitational hosted at Coonskin Park on September 3 and came out victorious, placing first. The Golden Eagles placed first in both the Men's 6k and Women's 4K.
UC placed first in the Men's 6k finishing with a total of 20 points, a whole 23 points better than second place Concord. UC Women also placed first with a total of 28 points.
UC Women had the individual leader of the 4K
Mercy Jepleting who finished in 15:11.5. She was followed closely by
Lily Dowdell who placed third with a time of 15:22. For the Men it was veterans
David Cecchi and
Casey Ellis would lead the way for UC with times of 18:32.6 and 18:33.0 respectively. Cecchi placed second overall while Ellis came in a close third. The Golden Eagles finished with four runners in the top five for men and two runners in the top five for women.
The Golden Eagles will return to action in Lock Haven PA to compete in the Lock Haven University Invitational on Saturday, September 25
th.
