How it Happened
Through the first five minutes of play, the scoreboard played a tennis match with the two squads as the lead had already changed four times. Markyia McCormick and Dakota Reeves combined for the opening 10 points scored for the Golden Eagles. Reeves managed two three-pointers while McCormick connected on a pair of free throws and a layup. The Lions managed a 10-2 run to take a 17-12 lead over Charleston with 4:24 remaining in the first quarter. After two consecutive layups by Clarrissa Francis, Sierra Davis would take the 19-17 lead for Charleston as she drilled a shot from beyond the arc. The Lions would take the lead back with a matched three-pointer and a jump shot for the 22-19 advantage heading into the break.

Despite Charleston's 14 points in the second quarter, the Lions seemed to match every point the Golden Eagles were able to put up. Jaleesa Lanier found shot after shot and gave the Lions the advantage once again with a 33-28 lead. Haley Moore and Abby Lee added on a couple of layups to the Charleston score line, but the Lions would head into the halftime break with a 39-35 lead over the Golden Eagles.

Sierra Davis would break the minute-long drought between both sides in the third quarter with another long-range triple cutting the deficit to just one. The Lions continued to stretch their lead inside the paint as they consistently found layups underneath the basket. The Golden Eagles distributed the ball very well, allowing for points from almost every player that was on the court. Points came from six different Golden Eagles during the third quarter, but Lincoln would once again head into the break with a 53-51 advantage.

Although the quarter started with just a two-point deficit, the Lions opened up the first five minutes of action with an 11-2 run that allowed for the extension of their lead to 63-54. Dakota Reeves began to connect from beyond the arc as she cut the lead to 64-68 with two consecutive three-pointers. The Golden Eagles would add two more buckets, but it was not enough as the Lions took the 74-68 victory.
