How it Happened
UC stormed out to an early 2-0 lead against Assumption in the top of the first inning on a Gracie Donato two-run single, but advantage was coughed up in the bottom of the first. Starting pitcher Dani Bauer only surrendered one single, but three errors allowed three runs to score. After one, the Golden Eagles were down 3-2.
In the second inning, the Maroon and Gold stormed back with three more runs. Kaylee Hotchkiss drove in Emma Groe on an RBI groundout. After two stolen bases by Carlie Odejewski and another by Hannah Rose, Kendal Marshall drove in two more with a double to deep right center field giving the visiting Golden Eagles a 5-3 lead.
Bauer would make the lead stand while putting together another strong performance in the circle. She allowed only four hits over her seven innings of work. Bauer punched out seven Greyhound hitters and did not give up an earned run.
Throughout the game, Charleston's speed was on exhibition as the team picked up six stolen bases.
UC closed out their scoring in the top of the seventh inning when Gracie Donato drove Lindsay Reavis and Hannah Rose with another single. Donato finished with four RBIs on the day.
Winter Haven, Fl.- Morgan Hoppe whitewashed Gannon in the 2-0 Charlston win.

How it Happened
Morgan Hoppe was the story of game two for UC. Hoppe shut down the Gannon offense as she never allowed a runner past second base through the contest. Hoppe picked up her first win with a complete-game shutout.
Charleston scored two runs in the third inning. Brionna Bowman walked and after a perfectly placed drag bunt by Hannah Rose, Allyssa Lake singled to center scoring Bowman. Jade Espinosa pinch ran for Lake. On the next pitch, Espinosa stole second and Rose stole home pushing the UC advantage to 2-0.
Morgan Hoppe did not need any other support. She sailed the rest of the way allowing only five hits and one walk. She struck out two batters.
