SFBL: UC Outscored Big Blue 31-3 in Two Mercy-Rule Victories

Charleston, W.Va.- Golden Eagles defeat Bluefield State College in 5 innings to open up at home with a win.

How it Happened
Charleston scored in every inning of a game shortened to five innings due to the eight-run rule. Eleven different Golden Eagle players picked up a hit in the game. Hannah Rose and Brionna Bowman led the way with two hits apiece, while Allysa Lake, Gracie Donato, Jade Espinosa, Kaylee Hotchkiss, and Bowman all had two RBIs in the contest.

Dani Bauer had the complete game victory, allowing only one earned run. She walked one and struck out eight. Bluefield State could only muster two hits in the game.


Charleston, W.Va.- Golden Eagles complete the sweep by defeating Bluefield State 18-2 in game two of the home opener.

How it Happened
After opening up a 1-0 lead after one inning of play, UC exploded for 17 runs in the second inning and amassed a season-high 18 hits in the 18-2 drubbing of visiting Big Blue.

Six Golden Eagle players had multiple hits in the contest, with Kendal Marshall and Morgan Hoppe picking up four and three hits respectively without being retired in the game. Marshall also led the team with three RBIs.

Morgan Hoppe earned her fourth consecutive victory in the circle, allowing one earned run in three innings pitched. She struck out six.
