WTEN: Golden Eagles Sweep Senators 7-0 on Wednesday

Charleston, W. Va. - The UC golden eagles women's tennis gained its first MEC victory of the season with a 7-0 victory over Davis & Elkins College.

The Basics:

Records: UC 11-7 (1-0 MEC), D&E 3-5 (1-3 MEC)

How it Happened:
In doubles, the pairing of Barbara Balancho and Regina Saucedo wasted no time before cruising to a 7-0 victory at the #3 line. In their first match playing together this season, Meggan William and Prinkle Singh clinched the doubles point at the #1 line, 6-3. Katie Swann and Harriet Glaves also gained a convincing victory.

Heading into singles, Prinkle Singh was first to put a point on the board for UC. Singh defeated Taylor Newman 6-0 6-1. Meggan William was next, dropping just 2 games on her way to a 6-2 6-0 victory. Senior, Regina Saucedo came through with the clinch with her win over Carter Nettina 6-1 6-0. Also gaining victories for the golden eagles was Emelina Alverez, Aida Montero and Barbara Balancho.

Coach Foote said "this match was a great win for us today. I am pleased with how all the girls stepped up and closed out victories. This win gives us confidence heading into a busy week of MEC competition. "
