How it Happened
Day OneÂ
The Golden Eagles traveled to Buckhannon on Saturday to face the league leading Bobcats. Upon arrival, they punched the host squad in the nose with a 2-1 victory in game one. Dani Bauer was ready for the challenge and only allowed four soft singles and one unearned run for the complete game victory. Sizzling-hot Hannah Rose scored both runs for UC.
Charleston struggled in the first inning of game 2 and could not recover. The Bobcats would earn the split with a 9-0 victory.
Day TwoÂ
Making a quick turnaround from campus, UC took to the road to take on Davis & Elkins. Big first innings for the Golden Eagles produced different results. Emma Groe's first inning homer in game one gave UC an early 4-0 lead. However, the lead would be coughed up by the second inning giving the Senators game one, 11-9.
In game two, Charleston rushed out the gate for another quick 3-0 lead, but this time, solid pitching from Morgan Hope would keep the D & E offense quiet. The UC offense exploded for 15 hits and scored in five of the seven innings to respond with an 8-1 victory. The charge was, once again, led by NCAA Top 50 Player of the Year finalist Hannah Rose's 4-5 game which included another tape-measure homer to center field.
