Location: West Liberty Tennis Courts

How it Happened:
UC Women's Tennis clinched the #1 seed for the MEC tournament and became regular season co-champions after a 7-0 sweep over West Liberty on Sunday afternoon. In doubles, the pairing of Prinkle Singh and Haarini Balakrishnan did not drop a single game on their way to a win at the #1 line. Prinkle and Haarini remain undefeated versus division II opponents this season. After Katie Swann and Harriet Glaves had dropped their match 6-4, it would come down to seniors Drouin/William. The pair bounced back from a 5-4 deficit to defeat Mariroysan/Cliffe 7-4 in the tiebreak.
Taking this momentum into singles, all 6 girls put up gritty performance to gain straight set wins. Prinkle Singh gained her 6th straight MEC victory in singles play from the #1 line. Meggan William was next, defeating the hilltoppers Daria Schoma 6-1 6-4. Balancho and Balakrishnan followed shortly after. Senior, AlexiAnn Drouin tallied the 6th point for the Golden Eagles, dropping just 3 games in the process. Finally, freshman Harriet Glaves gained her second singles match of the week, with a 6-4 6-4 victory over Pena-Aceves
Coach Foote said "I can't stress how important getting the doubles point was today. I give credit to Meggan and AlexiAnn for being brave and closing that tiebreak out at 6-6. This gave us much-needed momentum heading into singles. All girls 1-6 took care of business today and I am very proud of them. We will now turn our attention to preparing for tournament play.
