Belle Vernon, Pa. – UC Women's Golf notched their first tournament victory of the fall season, taking home the Vulcan Invitational Trophy, carding a 321 over one round.
UC, who was slated to play two rounds at the Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon, PA, finished six shots ahead of Glenville State in the tournament. Day two of the event was rained out, giving Charleston their first win of 2022.
The Gold Course at Cedarbrook spans 5,936 yards in length and boasts a 72.3 and 126 course and slope rating respectively.
Iciar Cananlejo navigated the track expertly and was crowned the tournament's individual champion after posting a 75 to lead the field on Sunday. She notched birdies on three and four before a string of three bogeys ended her front nine at +1. She would remain there until an unfortunate double bogey on the course's toughest hole in No. 16. Two pars would cement her 75 and plant her in first place heading into the second round.
The second round would never come as rain washed out play on Monday.
Beatrice Dietz posted an 80 on Sunday to give her a tie for fourth overall in the tournament. Aleigha Hodges and Victoria Witouski rounded out the Charleston lineup, both carding 83s and coming in tied for 14
th.

The Golden Eagles will return home to Edgewood Country Club on Sunday to play in the Golden Eagle Invitational. The last time the ladies fared well on their home track, coming away with a victory at the MEC Spring Kickoff in April of 2022.
