How it Happened
Charleston's early lead would be sparked by Markyia McCormick as she found a quick jumper just 10 seconds into the first quarter. They would manage a 12-4 run highlighted with a pair of triples from Dakota Reeves accompanied by Trinity Palacio's triple from deep range. Charleston would end the quarter with a 20-18 lead over the Cavaliers as they shot 47% (8-17) from the field and knocking home 3 of 5 three-pointers.

Both sides would exchange points for the opening five minutes of the second quarter, but the Golden Eagles would maintain their lead and began to spread the margin with another three-point frenzy. Triples would come from Reeves, Abby Lee, and Haley Moore to spread the lead to 36-27 with just over two minutes remaining in the half. Clarrissa Francis' layup underneath the basket would be the final basket of the half as Charleston took a 40-30 lead into the locker room.

Although they shot only 33% from the field in the third quarter, the Golden Eagles did not let off the gas pedal. They would add on 19 points to extend the margin to 17. Reeves found another pair of threes in the quarter and Shamiah Bridges' 3-3 trip to the free throw line would send Charleston into the fourth quarter with a 59-42 lead over the home team.

The Cavaliers' 14 points in the fourth quarter would not be enough to overcome the margin. Meanwhile on the other end, Charleston would put up 20 points to cover their tracks and maintain their lead for the 79-56 victory to end the 2022 year. Palacio and Reeves would each contribute 18 points and Palacio would add on eight more assists to her season stat line, one shy of her career high of nine.
