How it Happened
Charleston would start the quarter quickly with an 8-0 run that would force a timeout from Wheeling less than three minutes into the game. The run would be highlighted with five straight points from Haley Moore and a triple from Taylor Austin. The Golden Eagles would remain sturdy following the timeout and maintain a 21-13 lead at the end of the quarter accompanied by a 50% conversion rate from the floor and from beyond the arc. Wheeling would find their rhythm in the second quarter and begin to close the gap. They would get close to Charleston early on in the quarter, scoring seven unanswered until a layup from underneath by Clarrissa Francis sparked the scoring for Charleston. A three-minute drought would stall both offenses towards the end of the half, but Golden Eagles would find the final bucket of the half after Kiley Graham's layup in the paint and would take a 29-25 lead into the halftime break.

Briarley Rogers' free throws for Wheeling at the beginning of the quarter would be washed by another triple from Austin. The Golden Eagles a great deal of points from the charity stripe and beyond the arc in the quarter, putting up 20 total outscoring the Cardinals 20-17 to extend their lead moving into the fourth period of play. Charleston would control the flow of the game for the duration of the night, draining half their shots and every single one of their free throws to outscore Wheeling 17-11 in the quarter. The Golden Eagles would take down the undefeated Cardinals by a score of 66-53, earning their second consecutive win.
