How it Happened:
Both teams entered the Sweet Sixteen matchup even keeled, so when the first half was scoreless, it came as no surprise. Gannon took two shots off target in the half compared to Charleston's one on target.
After a scoreless first half, the second half was sure to keep fans on their toes with the game being decided in the span of seven minutes. In the fifty eighth minute, Charleston was celebrating after, what was thought to be a Jack Kay goal, but a late offside call allowed Gannon to quickly get the ball down field. With out of position Charleston players retreating, they were forced to kick it out, giving Gannon possession in their attacking third. Less than a minute after the offside call, Gannon found their first goal of the match, taking the lead 1-0 over Charleston.
Moments later in the sixty fourth minute, Charleston tied the match when Jack Kay slipped a pass past a Golden Knight defender to Caio Moraes in the box who sent it past the keeper for his first goal of the season.
Two minutes later, Gannon's Samuel Burton found himself in a one on one with the Charleston keeper after and put the Golden Knights ahead 2-1.
The Golden Knights would hold off the Golden Eagles for the next thirty minutes of the match to advance to the next round and Charleston's season would end in Rindge, New Hampshire.
