How it Happened
Just as the Pioneers have done all year long, they proceeded to put a new five on the court every thirty seconds of the ballgame. With 7:35 to play in the first, Trinity Palacio would find the first points of the game for either side as she banked home a layup from underneath to take the 2-0 lead. Charleston maintained their lead for majority of the opening quarter, but Aline Fevrier's layup would give Glenville State a 10-9 lead over the Golden Eagles. Neither team would put up large numbers in the quarter, but the Pioneers took a 14-9 lead into the second period. Despite Palacio's triple to start the second 10 minutes, the lead would be cushioned with a 18-7 run throughout the quarter, giving the Pioneers a 32-21 lead going into halftime.
The Golden Eagles would shoot over 50% from the field in the third quarter, while the Pioneers found nine points from the charity stripe. Glenville State would find three more points than Charleston despite their high shooting percentage and would find themselves with a comfortable 52-38 lead into lead into the final quarter. From then on, the Pioneers would roll to victory. They would shoot 73% inside the arc and extended their lead to as much as 35 points over Charleston. Glenville State would even the season series at 1-1 with a 78-51 victory over the Golden Eagles.
