Charleston, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles Women's Golf team placed fourth at the UC Invitational despite breaking school record of shooting under 300 in a round.
The Basics:
Location: Edgewood Country Club
Score: 608
How it Happened:
In round one of the UC Invitational, Charleston shot a 309 (+25), sitting just ten shots behind the leader Ashland. The field was very impressive as Charleston's score was only good enough for fourth place, sitting behind Gannon and Glenville State as well.
On day two, Charleston took ten strokes off of their round score, posting a 299, the first time in program history the women shot below 300. The 299 was the second best team score of the day but Charleston still found themselves in fourth place, sitting ten strokes off the winner Glenville State.
Despite the fourth-place finish Coach Johnson stated, "I am very impressed with how the ladies played this week. Breaking 300 is a huge accomplishment for this team and doing it against great competition is just getting them ready for the tournaments to come this season."
