Daniels, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles women's golf team claimed a first-place finish in the opening tournament of the season at the Glade Springs Invitational.

How it Happened:
Charleston had a slow start in round one of the season, posting a team score of 326. While the second place Golden Eagles were only ten points behind leader Glenville, Charleston still had room for improvement on day two.
On day two, four of the five Golden Eagles shot a 79, giving Charleston a team score of 316 and an overall score of 652 for the tournament. After Glenville finished the second round with a score of 326 and an overall score of 652, the top two teams had to resort to a tie break to decide a winner. After calculating the lowest two scores form each team from both days, Charleston was named as Champions of the Glade Springs Invitational.
The Golden Eagles also had three girls named to the All-Tournament team,
Ines Fernandez,
Beatrice Dietz, and
Gabrielle Harrison. Ines shot a 157 after two rounds and Dietz shot a 161 followed by Harrison with a 163.
