A Late Golden Eagles Double Condemns Bobcats to Defeat

Buckhannon, W.Va. - The University of Charleston Golden Eagles visited West Virginia Wesleyan College this Sunday for a Mountain East Conference match up.

The Basics:
Location: Culpepper Stadium
Score: UC 2, WVWC 1
Records: UC 14-0-1 (11-0-0 MEC), West Virginia Wesleyan 4-9-2 (3-7-2 MEC)

How it Happened:
It was a heated contest with tackles flying in from the outset. The hosts got their noses in front in the 16th minute after Chiedozie Ozo-Undeze was played through and Juan Hermoso took him down inside the area. Dillon Rajkovic stepped up and slotted it home coolly, sending Nicolai Gundersen the wrong way in the process. There were 13 shots in total in the first half, 2 of which Gundersen saved and 3 by Wesleyan's shot stopper James Docherty. The hosts went in 1-0 to the good at the break.

Into the second half and the Golden Eagles piled on the pressure from the outset, peppering the Bobcats goal with 13 shots in the second 45 minutes. They had to be patient for their reward though, and an equalizer eventually arrived in the 84th minute. Franco Tradatti's cross found the head of Juan Hermoso who looped a header over the outstretched arms of Docherty and into the net. The momentum had suddenly turned completely into the Golden Eagles favor, and 2 minutes later they snatched a winner. Center back Jack Allan rose highest to connect with Hugo Prats Deusdad's cross to send the ball into the back of Bobcats net, sparking euphoria on the field as well as the Golden Eagles bench. The boys in maroon were able to see out the last 4 minutes to go home with all three points and leave the Bobcats empty handed.
