Golden Eagles Score Four Goals in Defeat of Mountain Lion

Charleston W. Va. – Charleston took a 4-2 victory over the Concord Mountain Lions on Sunday afternoon to improve to 13-1 in Mountain East Conference Play.  
 
The Basics:

Records: UC 14-3 (13-1 MEC), Concord 10-6-1 (9-4-1 MEC)
 
How it Happened:
Charleston netted four goals in the first half of the match to take a commanding 4-0 lead over the Mountain Lions. Kim Smal was first to strike for Charleston, scoring in the 13th minute with assists going to Demari Curry and Juliette Lucas.
 
The Golden Eagles then struck again in the 27th minute, this goal coming from the left wing by Frankie Morrow.
 
Six minutes later Charleston found their third goal of the afternoon. Kaitlyn Gauze found Lina Jaime up the pitch. Jaime dribbled toward goal ending up in a one on one with the keeper and sending the ball into the back in the 33rd minute.
 
Charleston's fourth and final goal of the afternoon came off a set piece corner in the 42nd minute of the half. Frankie Morrow found the head of Ida Marhaug for her first goal of the season.
 
With the clock winding down in the half, Concord managed to score just before halftime, providing a glimmer of hope with ten seconds left on the clock. The teams headed to the locker room with Charleston leading 4-1.
 
The Mountain Lions scored their final goal in the second half in the 64th minute of the match. The goal bringing the score to 4-2, Charleston still leading.
 
The Golden Eagles and the Mountain Lions both took several more shots in the half, but the match would end with a Charleston victory 4-2.

Charleston will host the West Virginia State Yellow Jackets on Wednesday, November 6th at 7:00PM for the final match of the regular season.
