CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The University of Charleston Golden Eagles fell to Frostburg State University 73-57 in a Mountain East Conference matchup Wednesday evening at the Wehrle Arena. The loss drops Charleston to 2-6 overall and 0-3 in MEC play.

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles started strong, edging Frostburg State 21-19 in the first quarter, powered by Jamia Nesmith's inside presence. Nesmith tallied a game-high 20 points and secured nine rebounds, leading Charleston's efforts on both ends of the court.
However, the momentum shifted in the second quarter. Charleston struggled offensively, managing just six points while Frostburg State took advantage of turnovers and fast breaks to gain a 34-27 halftime lead.
The third quarter saw Frostburg State extend its lead, outscoring the Golden Eagles 24-15. Despite strong efforts from Ksenija Mitric, who contributed 10 points and grabbed six rebounds, Charleston couldn't close the gap. Paris Stokes added seven points and five rebounds but struggled with efficiency from the floor.
Both teams tallied 15 points in the final period, but Charleston was unable to mount a comeback as Frostburg State maintained control, utilizing their bench depth and sharp shooting from the paint.
