Charleston Defeats Concord 3--0 on the Road to Improve to 4-0 in MEC Play

Box Score Athens, W. Va. – Charleston uses three second half goals to defeat the home Mountain Lions. Cassidy Collins broke the scoring open with Charleston's first goal of the afternoon. Demari Curry then found the back of the net twice for her first and second goal of the season.

How it Happened:
The first half of play on the rainy Wednesday afternoon was neutral between the two squads. The visiting Charleston Golden Eagles taking two shots and the home Concord Mountain Lions having four shots. The first of Charleston's shots came from Cassidy Collins in the 32nd minute and the second came from Frankie Morrow as a late half attempt in the 44th minute.

As neither team could find the back of the net in the first half, the two squads headed to the locker room tied at 0-0.
 
In the 56th minute, the Golden Eagles broke the scoring with a goal from Cassidy Collins that snuck over the Mountain Lion keeper for a 1-0 Charleston lead.
 
Moments later in the 64th minute, Frankie Morrow stepped in to receive a bad pass from the Mountain Lions and found Demari Curry inside the box who sent a shot into the upper left corner for her first goal of the season. The goal giving Charleston the 2-0 advantage in the second half over Concord.
 
In the 76th minute, after receiving a throw in on the far side, Cassidy Collins sent a cross into the box and found Demari Curry who headed the ball in for her second goal of the afternoon, Charleston leading 3-0 with 13 minutes left in the match.
 
The Golden Eagles would finish the game out with a clean sheet and a 3-0 victory over the home Mountain Lions, improving to 4-0 in Mountain East Conference play.
 
Up Next:
Charleston will take the short trip down to Institute on Sunday to take on cross town rival West Virginia State at 1:00PM.
