Frostburg, Md. -The University of Charleston Golden Eagles travelled to Frostburg State this past Sunday for a Mountain East Conference matchup.
The Basics:
Location:Â Bobcat Stadium
Score:Â UC 0, FSU 0
Records:Â UC 7-0-3 (5-0-2 MEC) Frostburg State 3-4-2 (3-3-1 MEC)
How it Happened:
UC controlled a lot of the proceedings in the first half and had a couple of half chances through Joao Silva and Martin Echarren. Silva couldn't direct a flick from a long throw goalwards, and Echarren blazed over from a slipped ball through from Leonardo Dutra. Frostburg's best chance of the half came with 12 minutes to go but Nate Kennedy's shot went the wrong side of the post.
Into the second half and it was a more transitional game with neither side willing to take full control. Echarren had a go from 25 yards on the counter but fired straight at the Bobcats keeper, and Allan Logrillo's tame effort was no problem either. Joao Silva also headed over from a corner with 10 minutes to go, and Echarren the same. Konstantinos Parisis was alert in the dying embers to thwart a Frostburg winner. The game ended even.
The 0-0 draw leaves Charleston with a record of 7-0-3 (5-0-2 MEC).Â
Up Next:
Next up for the Golden Eagles is a visit from non-conference Salem to the WAC this coming Wednesday, October 8. Kick off is scheduled for 4pm.
