Stokes’ Triple-Double Powers Charleston Past Salem, Golden Eagles Split Week's Games

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The University of Charleston Women's Basketball team split their games last week, earning a commanding win over Salem on Wednesday before narrowly falling to Point Park University on Saturday.

How it Happened:
Wednesday vs. Salem-
Paris Stokes put on a show, recording a triple-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists to lead the Golden Eagles past Salem. Stokes also added six steals, providing a spark on both ends of the court. Harper Annarino chipped in with 16 points, including four three-pointers, while Candela Nevares García and Sydney Bolless each contributed eight points. Charleston held Salem to just 40% shooting and forced 20 turnovers, converting them into 24 points.
 
Saturday at Point Park-
Despite a strong effort, Charleston fell in a tightly contested game against Point Park. Stokes led the team once again, scoring a game-high 21 points and dishing out four assists. Jamia Nesmith dominated the boards with 12 rebounds to go along with 17 points, while Annarino and Kiley Graham combined for 18 points. The game featured 16 lead changes, but Charleston was unable to overcome Point Park's strong free-throw shooting down the stretch.
 
Up Next:
Charleston will return to the H. Bernard Wehrle Arena to host West Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday, Feb. 19. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
