Golden Eagles Notch Road Victory Over Senators

ELKINS, W.Va. – The University of Charleston women's basketball team extended its winning streak with a 62-49 road victory over Davis & Elkins on Saturday at the McDonnell Center.

How it Happened:
Charleston (15-11, 10-8 MEC) set the tone early with a defensive-first approach, holding Davis & Elkins (2-22, 1-17 MEC) to just six points in the second quarter to build a comfortable lead at halftime.
 
The Golden Eagles edged out a tight first quarter, 11-9, before taking control in the second, outscoring the Senators 20-6 to head into the break with a 31-15 lead. Charleston maintained its advantage in the third, winning the quarter 17-16, and fended off a late push by Davis & Elkins in the final period to seal the win.
 
Key Performers
  • Paris Stokes delivered a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while adding four assists, a block, and a steal.
  • Sydney Bolles contributed 13 points, hitting 5-of-6 from the free-throw line and grabbing one rebound.
  • Harper Annarino was a force on the boards, securing a team-high 15 rebounds while adding 10 points for her own double-double.
  • Candela Nevares García knocked down two three-pointers and finished with nine points and four rebounds.
  • Kiley Graham nearly posted a double-double with nine rebounds and five points. 
Charleston dominated the glass, out-rebounding Davis & Elkins 49-26, and capitalized at the free-throw line, shooting 76% (19-of-25) compared to the Senators' 71.4% (10-of-14).
