Salem, VA. – The Golden Eagles fell into the losers bracket after falling to Fairmont State, but Charleston recovered and won the next three games to advance to Championship Saturday.

How it Happened:
Fairmont State got on the board first in the second inning with a solo homerun to take a 1-0 lead. The Golden Eagles then evened the score in the top of the third on a Taylor Hodson RBI double.
Fairmont responded in the bottom half if the inning with a bases clearing double to regain the lead at 4-1. The final blow for Fairmont came in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single to extend their lead 5-1. The Falcons held on for the final three outs in the seventh, knocking Charleston to the loser's bracket.

How it Happened:
Davis & Elkins took an early lead over Charleston with a two-run blast in the first inning of a loser goes home contest. The Senators then doubled their lead with two runs in the second on back-to-back doubles. Charleston cut the deficit in half though in the bottom of the second on a Hannah Meyer two RBI double to score Hodson and Phares.
Charleston then took the lead in the fourth as Alli Rubal doubled to right center to score two runs and Reagan West doubled to left center to two more runs.
With a 6-4 lead, Charleston continued to tack on to the score, Hannah Meyer blasted a three-run shot to center field to give the Golden Eagles the 9-4 advantage. The Senators cut the lead with a two-run shot of the own in the top of the sixth, but the Golden Eagles still led 9-6.
Charleston tacked on three insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth. Brittny Ogg and Alli Rubal each collected RBIs and gave Charleston the 12-6 lead. Addison Mass then took care of business on the mound and collected the win for Charleston, sending them into the semifinals on Friday.

How it Happened:
Charleston took the lead in the second inning with a Hannah Meyer double to score Taylor Hodson. Then a second run was scored on an Ella Zucchero single up the middle, scoring Meyer. The 2-0 lead held until the seventh when the away team, Charleston tacked on a third insurance run on a Lindsey Phares sacrifice fly to score Alli Rubal.
Addison Mass then headed back on the mound in the bottom of the seventh and shut down the Pioneers much like she had all afternoon. Mass collected the no hitter and the win for Charleston, sending them further into the bracket to take on Fairmont State later in the day.

How it Happened:
The final game of the afternoon at the Moyer Sports Complex was a pitcher and defensive duel between the Fighting Falcons and the Golden Eagles. The game was scoreless for the first six innings until Charleston finally broke the stalemate in the top of the seventh. The first two runs came off a Kyra Gooler double to left center with two outs to score Zucchero and Ogg. Reagan West then singled down the left field line to score Gooler from second and give Charleston a 3-0 lead as they headed to the bottom of the seventh.
Addison Mass then took care of business on the mound, shutting down the Falcons and sending Charleston to Championship Saturday.
