Golden Eagles Roll Past Davis & Elkins, Stay Unbeaten in 2026

Elkins, WV – The University of Charleston women's basketball team remained unbeaten in 2026 on Saturday afternoon, rolling past fellow Mountain East Conference opponent Davis & Elkins to solidify its place among the league's top four.

How It Happened
The opening minutes were tightly contested, as the two teams were knotted at 4–4 through the first two minutes. Charleston then found its rhythm, going on a quick run to take a 12–6 advantage with 5:39 remaining in the first quarter. While the Senators battled back, the Golden Eagles maintained control, closing the period ahead 25–16 after baskets from Neveah Brooks (7 points) and Bridget Womber, who posted eight points and seven rebounds in the quarter.
Charleston took complete control in the second quarter, putting together a dominant defensive performance. The Golden Eagles held Davis & Elkins to just five points in the period while showcasing balanced scoring on the offensive end. Jordan Scully contributed five points in the quarter, and Womber continued her strong play, recording a double-double before halftime with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Davis & Elkins opened the third quarter with renewed energy, scoring the first five points. Harper Annarino halted the run with a timely three-pointer, restoring a 19-point lead. The teams traded baskets the rest of the quarter, with Natalie Smith and Livia O'Dea combining to go 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. A late jumper from Noelle Polanco sent Charleston into the final period up by 20.
Kennedi McLean opened the fourth quarter with a strong layup in the paint, and after a brief response from the Senators, Laynie Binion connected from beyond the arc to push the lead back to 22. Davis & Elkins put together an 8–0 run midway through the quarter, but Charleston quickly regained control behind baskets from Annarino and Scully to close out the 73–55 victory.

Bridget Womber led the Golden Eagles with a dominant performance, finishing with 17 points and 16 rebounds.
